Its all feeling very ’safe’ at the moment. None of it feels like its being pushed any further forward, a little reminiscent of the problems I had with the TED brief.

The brief is simply the title, Nature As Culture, so its just a case of me finding what I want to do within that.
I’m looking at what it is I like in the work I have been doing over the summer, as well as what I had been doing previously at the sculpture workshop, namely the idea of putting real thought and care into the usually fairly subconcious decisions anyone makes when making ‘art’. So I am trying to merge those ideals, but with something a little bit out of my comfort zone, so instead of using the buildings and cityscapes that I enjoy doing, I’m kinda looking at Nature…It doesnt lend itself to the ideal quite as well but either way, I have been making collage type multimedia images and drawings and hopefully something will start to formulate.
As it stands, Im thinking of making a very ‘man-made’ style object from organice materials, something I touched upon during the summer but didnt pursue…So the idea of making a factory style machine, but with old, weathered wood and pegs and what not….Like I say, early days, hopefully it’l get better…

Managed to do a few drawings while away…Not staggering but I feel they are a bit more ‘physical’ than the ones prior…
