Drawings and Thinkings…

Still slightly frustrated that the decent stuff is still in amongst a whole lot of crap; Its my fault, I need to be more accurate when evaluating what I produce but its annoying.

I cant help but wonder how much of it is down to the worrying feeling that I have somewhat lost the crux of what I am doing and am, to a certain extent, just drawing for the sake of drawing (which I gotta be honest and say I’m really enjoying it) I just think it maybe makes me lose focus of what I want to respond to and therefore the best way to respond to it.

Need to really think about what it is I am trying to say, I mean I know its about being inspired by the talk I chose and, to an extent, I think I am doing that, although I have kind of taken one small element of the talk and taken it to a place that its no longer really relevant to the initial source but, I’ve stil been inspired by it, no?

I mean, the initial idea was to take away aspects of things that I didnt like and merge what was left, obviously being inspired by the notion of amalgimating all forms of public transport into one thing…Is that enough?

I still really like that idea, and by using objects that I find and like, I am still really just exploring the possibilities of what I could do with a number of different medium in a sculptural way…

I just worry that I say this in ten weeks time and I’m torn apart cause everyone elses is really fuckin clever and mature y’know….anyway, let me know what you think if you can.

Neil’s Got Wood…

Right, I know its not exactly groundbreaking or, y’know, good, but it seemed like the logical next step, certainly in terms of the development drawings of the wood stuff… Anyway, I have some decent pictures (finally) of some other drawings and other stuff from recently but I wont have the USB till tommorow so I’l hopefully upload them tommorow if I get a chance…

The camera things really starting to take the piss now I know, hopefully it will be less of an issue from now on…

Alright. Got a bunch of stuff to show you, mainly sketchbook pages but some images and odd, half sculpture half development-y type thing…..aaaaanyway…

These were just some ideas for what I could do with the wood and the frame that I found outside my house. I like the idea of making something new out of stuff that already had a use, a bit like the TED talk I watched about the giy who designed things that were hyper efficient and industrial. Kinda, but not quite…anyway, I wanna make these, or something like these, just to try them out, but I got work the next few days so I’l give it a bash at the weekend.

These are another development kinda drawing for the wood.

So I dunno. I really want to start to push it out of the drawing. Well, keep doing the drawing cause I am enjoying it but I feel like I should maybe have something else to show for it, and I’m having ideas about 3-D things, instillations, the sculptures with the wood and metal rods, the stuff with the lines on the wood etc.

Need to just do it I suppose….

Drawings and stuff…

They arent really in chronological order so it wont be overly obvious but I would say the most recent stuff is definately the least crap…Quite pleased with the A2 stuff, less obvious, but I do feel I need to spread out all my crap on a flat surface to properly do this stuff half decently….one of the things I miss from college…

Think I might have an idea for instillation type stuff but I’m not 100% quite yet so I will give it a bash and let you know.
